ABOUT FURNACE

Furnace was founded by Joel Gascoigne and Daniel Adams, two engineers with a shared background in the electrical industry as electricians and years of hands-on experience working with Aga range cookers.

Our story actually started long before Furnace.

We first began working together back in 2015, when Daniel started his apprenticeship at the electrical firm where Joel worked. Since then, we’ve worked together on and off across a variety of electrical, engineering and management roles.

We’ve both always enjoyed taking things apart, understanding how they work and, most importantly, putting them back together properly.

So when the opportunity came along to work with Aga range cookers — restoring, servicing and converting them — it suited us perfectly.

YEARS ON THE ROAD

Over the following six years, we worked on cookers all over the country.

There were plenty of early mornings, late nights and very long drives. Between us, there isn’t much of the UK we haven’t seen — and probably even less of the inside of an Aga range cooker.

During that time we gained extensive hands-on experience with cooker restoration, refurbishment, electrical conversions, installations and removals, alongside engineering and management roles.

When our previous employer, Blake & Bull, went into liquidation at the beginning of 2025, we suddenly found ourselves wondering what came next.

For us, the answer was fairly obvious.

Furnace.

WHY WE STARTED FURNACE

We genuinely enjoy what we do.

We like restoring beautiful old cookers, solving problems, travelling around the country and meeting the people who own them.

Furnace gave us the opportunity to take everything we’d learned over the years and build the kind of range-cooker company we wanted to work for ourselves: knowledgeable, straightforward and focused on doing a good job.

Today, we operate from our workshop in Trowbridge and travel throughout the UK in our purpose-built Furnace van.

We specialise in Aga range cooker electric conversions, refurbishment, restoration, re-enamelling and removals, working with a number of different conversion systems depending on the cooker and what its owner wants to achieve.

And if what you need isn’t something we provide ourselves, there’s a good chance we’ll know somebody who can help.

YOUR COOKER MATTERS

We know these cookers aren’t just another appliance.

For many owners they’re the centre of the kitchen, something that’s been in the house for decades, or occasionally something that’s been in the family for generations.

That’s why we take the responsibility of working on them seriously.

Whether we’re carrying out a complete restoration and electric conversion or simply helping diagnose a problem, every cooker receives the same level of care and attention.

We’re still a small business, and we like it that way. When you speak to Furnace, you’re speaking to the people who actually work on your cooker.
