How It Works
Multi-element electric conversions explained.
There are a few iterations of electric systems for Aga range cookers, from the 13A which saw the burner replaced with a large element and modified very little of the rest of the body of the cooker, to the first mutli element system from Oilwarm which has just been retired after many years of success.
These days we’re installing electrical systems, some with as many as 9 elements strategically placed around the cooking areas, meaning that you’re heating only the places you need to heat, rather than unnecessarily heating a large bulk of cast iron that does not need to be there.
We start by stripping down the cooker completely, removing all the inner workings that won’t be needed any more.
We make modifications to the ovens to allow them to hold thermocouples and rebuild with elements placed in the positions you can see in the image on the right hand side - on top, in between and underneath both right hand side ovens, and for 4 Oven models an extra element to heat both cavities.
We then tightly wrap these in a ceramic fibre insulation blanket which retains heat superbly and a control panel is bolted behind the operations door.
Two independently controlled hotplates are added at the final stages and after a bit of wiring you’re ready to cook again. Generally this takes a day to complete and you can cook dinner the same evening.
